High Blood Pressure: A lot of people may get scared by the term ‘Blood Pressure.’ Well, it is not a disorder, the term blood pressure simply means the pressure exerted by the blood on to the walls of vessels.
During the day, following a lot of activities the level of blood pressure may either go up or may go down which is pretty normal.
The problem arises when the elevated blood pressure levels won’t return to the normal. For a healthy individual, 120/80 mmHg is considered to be as the normal blood pressure.
Anything above 139/89 mmHg may be considered under abnormal values and must be taken care of. These values may hint towards high blood pressure.
It is a relative; there are some cases where even these elevated values don’t confirm High blood pressure disorder or hypertension. So, before diagnosing yourself make sure to visit your doctor.
There is some cause for hypertension. We can’t generalize each one of them, and therefore you must take this information with a grain of salt. And always, consult your doctor.
Remember, self-diagnosing is worst.
Based on several studies here are some of the most common cause of high blood pressure;
Well, you must have often heard people saying ‘hypertension runs in families.’ It is true to some extent.
There are a lot of research and studies that have shown that if your mother or father is suffering from hypertension, there is a chance that you may end up having it too.
But it is not always, true. The best way to minimize these chances is to have a balanced diet and exercise daily. That takes us to the nest point;
Excessive intake of salts in the diet is found to have water retention effects in the body. This may lead to increase in overall blood volume by making kidneys to save more water in the body.
This will, in turn, may lead to a rise in blood pressure levels. But in normal individuals, this risen level is balanced by the hormonal activities.
But the people who are already suffering from Hypertension may not be able to normalize these elevated levels. Therefore, your doctor asks you to cut down on your salt intake.
It has also been found that elevated levels of blood cholesterol often lead to heart problems especially hypertension. Make sure to check your overall calories intake and workout for at least 30 minutes a day to stay fit.
It has been noted several times that excessive alcohol intake may often lead to high blood pressures issues. As per National Health and Medical Research Council healthy individual is allowed no more than two standard drinks per day.
