BlackBerry Priv receives update, AAW068 build number

The Canadian phone’s manufacturer launched its first Android-powered smartphone back in October 2015, BlackBerry Priv. It came with pre-installed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box and latter received Android 6.0 Marshmallow update officially. Last year, the company announced that the phone would not receive any new Android security patches updates. But the company unexpectedly pushed out a new update for the BlackBerry Priv. The new update for the phone comes with AAW068 firmware update number. Unfortunately, the change list is unknown other than the firmware version.

During the announcement of BlackBerry Priv updates shut down last year, but the company did say that at the time,  ‘should a critical vulnerability be exposed we will engage our partners as needed to develop and deliver necessary patches.’ However, there could be something worthwhile included in the update, even if we’re not sure what it is yet.

The new AAW068 build update for the Priv comes in weighing just over 100MB, unfortunately, there is no latest Android Security patch level, it remains the same. If you have Blackberry Priv and received an update notification, make sure you have at least 70% battery and connected to a Wi-Fi network before going to start updating process.

If you going to install the update, read the note on the update page, before downloading the update. This release could have some verification issues once downloaded. If you face the same issue so follow this link to fix it.

The BlackBerry Priv comes with 5.4-inch AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixels of resolution. It powered by Hexa-Core Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood along with Adreno 418. It has 3 Gb of RAM and 32 GB internal storage along with micro SD card support.

The phone featured with an 18-megapixel rear camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, OIS, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash. It has 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. It is packed with Non-removable Li-Ion 3410 mAh battery and Fast battery charging (Quick Charge 2.0) feature. The BlackBerry Priv comes in only Black color.
