Latvian and Polish delegates disallowed to enter Russia to attend funeral

Russian officials stirred up more complications as they barred Polish and Latvian delegates to enter Moscow, who were planning to attend Boris Nemtsov’s funeral.

Russian authorities have not yet revealed the reason behind this motive. Some believe the sanctions imposed by EU on Russia led to the Barricading of the delegates, however former UK’s prime minister John Major and US Ambassador John Tefft were present at the Funeral.

Alexei Navalny who is also an opposition leader currently serving a 15 day arrest on charges of money laundering requested to be allowed to attend the funeral was denied permission.

Boris Nemstov, on Friday was shot dead by an unknown assassin while he was walking with his girlfriend Duritskaya on a bridge near Kremlin. He died on the spot after being shot four times. No arrest has been made yet.

Duritskaya told reporters that she was held under police guard who questioned her repeatedly. The 23 year old model also said that she told the police everything she knew but they were still keeping her confined within her friend’s apartment, without any reason. She was later allowed to fly to Kiev, to visit her mother.

Russia announced a reward of three million roubles ($48,000) for any information leading to the assassination of Nemtov.
