5 Best Home Remedies for Skin Allergy Relief

We’ve all come across a time in our lives when we had developed some Skin allergy. It may occur because of the material you are using, some allergens in the environment, or maybe because of something that you ate that you shouldn’t have. If you are having any of these skin conditions; dry skin, boils, poison ivy, rashes, pimples, or allergy to a particular material, here are 5 Best Home Remedies for Skin Allergy Relief.

Top 5 Home Remedies for Skin Allergy Relief

1. Moisturising

It is by far one of the most overlooked home remedies. The sole reason for developing skin allergy is because of the lack of moisture. This dryness of the skin will lead to the death of skin cells, leading to itching and can lead to severe infections too. Moisture prevents the skin cells from desiccation.

Grab any OTC moisturizer from the store (or make one at home) and make sure to keep the area of application covered as soon as you apply the moisturizer. It will prevent the moisturizer from vapourising and enhance its penetration into the skin.

For those having sensitive skin, make sure to get in touch with your dermatologist first.

2. Olive Oil

Olive oil aids in helping the skin to regenerate the dead cells and prevents the healing of damaged skin cells.

Vitamin E and antioxidants are mainly present in Olive Oil that helps in skin allergy relief. You can also add some Turmeric to Olive oil preparation; it has antibacterial; and anti-inflammatory properties that will relieve itching and soothe rashes.

3. Aloe Vera: The ultimate skin allergy relief agent

Well, who hasn’t heard about Aloe Vera? Many products have been developed using Aloe Vera. Thanks to its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory properties Aloe Vera also helps in Skin allergy relief.

It is an excellent emollient and therefore prevents skin rashes. You can apply the Aloe Vera gel directly on to the skin after peeling its skin.

4. Cold Compress

Skin inflammation, rashes that are caused due to heat, insect bites and shingles can be dealt with the cold compress technique. Cold compression is also effective in dealing with swelling.

Make sure to use an ice pack, or you can soak a cloth in ice-cold water and apply it for 5-10 minutes over the affected area.

Never apply ice directly to the affected area. This makes the skin more fragile and may lead to the death of the skin cells.

5. Oatmeal Bath

Add a cup of oatmeal to lukewarm water and soak the affected area for about 30 minutes. Make sure the water isn’t hot, as this may intensify the itching.

Oatmeal is an excellent humectant and therefore must be your best choice while dealing with itch, rashes, eczema, and psoriasis.

Dos and Don’ts

  • Try not to scratch the affected area.
  • Apart from some OTC moisturizers make sure not to use any cosmetics for the time being.
  • Say no to tight clothing
  • Protect the affected area from direct heat
