Reliance Industries has increased the production of medical-grade oxygen at its oil refineries in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The company has increased the production of medical-grade oxygen to more than 700 tonnes per day. The company is supplying medical-grade oxygen to states affected by Covid-19 at no charge. People aware of the matter have informed that the company’s Jamnagar refinery was initially producing 100 tonnes of oxygen, which has been immediately increased to more than 700 tonnes.

More than 70,000 seriously ill people will get relief every day by sending oxygen to states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Sources said the company plans to increase the production of medical-grade oxygen to 1,000 tonnes. The company has not yet received a reply to an email sent for comment about this.

Earlier, medical-grade oxygen was not produced in Jamnagar refineries. The refinery produces diesel, petrol and jet fuel.

With the sudden increase in cases of Covid, the demand for oxygen increased, Reliance installed equipment and started producing medical-grade oxygen.

A source informed, “Around 700 tonnes of oxygen is being supplied daily to various states of the country. This will provide relief to more than 70,000 seriously ill patients every day. ”

The company has stated that the entire supply of oxygen including transportation at (-) 183 ° C in special tankers is being done free of cost by the company. This is being done under the company’s CSR initiative.

Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited have also started making available oxygen produced in their refineries to the states affected by Covid-19.
