JEE Advanced 2020: Admission to 23 IITs Postponed Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

JEE Advanced 2020: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced admission has been postponed to 23 IITs due to COVID-19 outbreak. The JEE Advanced exam was about to be held on May 17, 2020 (Sunday). On Wednesday (April 1, 2020) the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that the JEE Main exam would now be held in the last week of May, which was supposed to be held on April. IIT Delhi is the organizing institute for JEE Advanced exam.

The 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) all over the country, through JEE (Advanced) offer admissions to the following undergraduate courses leading to Integrated Master’s or Bachelor’s, or Bachelor’s-Master’s Dual Degree in Science, Engineering, or Architecture.

According to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi schedule, the JEE Advanced 2020 registration was set to begin on May 1, 2020, and to be concluded on May 6, 2020. The JEE Advanced admit cards were expected to be released on May 12, 2020.

This year in JEE Main exam 2020, 9 candidates have scored 100 percentile. The top 2,50,000 candidates who passed JEE Mains will be eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced exam. However, the number may be higher due to any tied scores/ranks in any category. JEE Main is considered as a qualifying exam for admission in JEE Advanced to engineering colleges across the country.

With this announcement, JEE Advanced has now joined other top exams which got postponed due to coronavirus outbreak. This entrance exam includes Industrial Relations (CSIR), NEET 2020, JEE Mains, National Council for Hotel Management, ICAR, MHT CET, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, UPSEE, and so on.

JEE Advanced is conducted every by either of the 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) namely IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee or IISc Bangalore under the aegis of the JAB (Joint Admission Board).

According to an announcement by the HRD ministry on Wednesday (April 1, 2020), more than 12 million CBSE students studying up to Class 8 will be automatically promoted to the next class. The Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will be conducted only for 29 subjects once the situation normalizes.
