The students should also note that the Board will not hold the examination for the rest of the subjects. The CBSE board will separately issue an instruction for making/assessment in all such cases.

CBSE will give stakeholders 10 days before starting the board examinations, as it is difficult to announce the new schedule for 29 subjects. Any decision taken by the Board will be taken under consultation with higher education authorities, keeping in mind all related entrance exams, admission dates and all necessary things.

The 29 subjects include 12 subjects for Class 12 (whole India), six subjects for Class 10 only for northeast Delhi that was hit by violence, and 11 for northeast Delhi.

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced the decision on Twitter on Wednesday (April 1, 2020) evening. The statement states CBSE has been directed to promote all CBSE students till class 8 to next grade in consultation with NCERT, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

CBSE Board Secretary also advised schools to promote students class 9 and 11 to the next class on the basis of the school-based assessments including periodic tests, project work and term exams conducted so far.

Any student who is unable to clear this internal process under any circumstances, the concerned school may utilize this period for the opportunity of appearing in school-based tests or providing remedial interventions, online or offline. The promotion of such student may be decided on the basis of such tests,” CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said.

CBSE School in Foreign Countries

The CBSE Board has also decided that no examinations will be conducted for class 10 and class 12 students from schools located outside India due to suspension of academic activities. Board will shortly inform the system of assessment/marking for the purpose of declaring results.

CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said there are schools outside 25 countries which are affiliated under CBSE are under a lockdown or have decided to close down the schools. The board felt that under such circumstances, it will not be in a position to hold for each of these countries. Also, it will be difficult to bring answer books for evaluation to India”.
