HBOs epic fantasy drama ‘the Game of Thrones’ ruled the Emmy awards this year. The series grabbed 12 awards including one for best drama series.
The annual ceremony held in Los Angeles thronged with celebs from every walk of life. The best lead actress prize was seized by Viola Davis, becoming
the first black woman to do so. The rough, tough and honest character of criminal lawyer portrayed by Davis on ABC has a global fan following.
Jon Hamm of the Vintage ‘Mad Men’, fictional drama based on the advertising industry in the 1960s New York received the best actor award.
The actor finally won the award after getting nominated for the seventh time. Veep, another show by HBO won the best comedy series award.
The political comedy show has received positive response from the viewers making it one of the most popular TV series in the world.
The show also bagged the best comedy writing award. The Game of Thrones broke all records ever since it’s release back in 2011.
The television adaptation of the famous novel ‘The Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R.R. Martin created a new record by winning 12 awards
including the best drama series for the first time. The other Emmys it won are best direction, best writing along with best supporting actor,
Peter Dinklage. Amazon opened its account at the Emmy through Transparent, comedy drama series based on the life of a transgender college
professor Jeffrey Tambor. The series won best direction for comedy. Netflix, online video giant’s Orange is the New Black, received Emmy award for
the best supporting actress in a drama
