PM Modi and his Japanese PM Shinzo Abe on Thursday launched India’s first bullet train project amid Ahmedabad and Mumbai. PM Modi described the ambitious 1.10 trillion rupees, which will cut travel time amid the two cities from seven to less than three, and termed it as a “big award from Japan to India”.
The Congress today named the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet Train project an “electoral bullet train” and supposed its launch was timed keeping in mind the forthcoming Gujarat Assembly polls. He also blamed PM Narendra Modi of holding up the project, envisioned by the previous UPA government, for three-and-a-half years, hence making it “economically unviable”. Yesterday, the Congress party inquired the economic practicality of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, for which the foundation stone laid by PM Modi and his Japanese PM Shinzo Abe.
He also blamed the Modi management with “totally abdicating its duty” for the security of passengers, whereas focussing on this single project. Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Congress leader, supposed his party was not aligned with any expansion project but alleged that the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project was not economically feasible.

– The bullet train will run at high speed of 350 km per hour and will stop at 12 stations on the route, only for 165 seconds each layering the 508-km stretch within three hours. Japan is providing a loan of 88,000 crore rupees for this bullet train project at a minimal interest of 0.1%.
– The government desires to begin the services of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Network on 15th August 2022 to mark the 75th year of Independence of our country. The railways would run nearly about 35 bullet trains when it starts the process with concerning 70 trips per day. The number of trains would augment to 105 trains in 2050.
-Primarily, the bullet train project would have ten coaches with a total seating facility of 750 passengers. Afterwards, it is proposed to include 16 coaches with a seating facility for 1,250 passengers. The bullet train comprises two categories of seats that include executive as well as the economy, with the prices similar with the base AC 2- tier charge of the Rajdhani Express.
-The railways will need only about 825 hectares of land for the bullet train project out of which, about 92 percent of the route will be elevated, six percent would go all the way through tunnels, and merely the remaining two per cent would be on the ground. In the early days, about 1.6 crore people are predictable to travel by train yearly. Adding that by 2050, nearly1.6 lakh commuters would be travelling by the high-speed train every day.
