Eight high schoolers from The Seed School of Los Angeles (Seed LA) converged on 10X HQ to attend the second-ever 10X Kids Pitchoff. These entrepreneur-hopefuls pitched their businesses to a panel of elite judges and the 3 winners walked away with over $20,000 in funding.
AVENTURA, Fla., May 21, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Grant Cardone Foundation and a non-profit partner Tumaini DC, treated eight high school students from Seed LA to a complimentary flight from Los Angeles to Miami to pitch their businesses at 10X Headquarters. The students spent months preparing for this opportunity. Out of the eight contestants, three would walk away with cash prizes to build their budding businesses. These entrepreneurs
The all-star judges included two Cardone Enterprises staff members: Sheri Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer, and Robert Hamilton, Director of Marketing Operations, as well as Gloria Mayfield Banks, international speaker and entrepreneur.
Prior to pitching their businesses, Sheri Hamilton reminded the students: “It is okay to dream as big as you ever wanted to dream. You don’t have to keep it down today. You don’t have to keep it tight today. You can just let it go today. This is a safe spot for dreams and this is a place where we love to see dreams come true.”
Following the presentations and deliberation, the panel of judges chose three contestants to win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. But the three winners were in for a surprise. When they were called to receive their checks, the judges tripled their winnings, crossing off the initial winning prize from their checks and filling in the new amounts: $10,000 for 1st place, $7,000 for 2nd, and $5,000 for 3rd.
Freshman Aline Argueta, won second place pitching a pop-up coffee shop that focused on providing healthy food and beverage options to health-conscious consumers. “This is a great opportunity,” Aline explained, “I just want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who believed in me. This is a dream of mine… with this [cash prize], I’m really going to do it.”
After receiving their checks, the winners were greeted by Grant Cardone, Founder of the Grant Cardone Foundation, in a surprise appearance at the event. While only three contestants took home a cash prize, Mr. Cardone gave every participant a free year of membership in Cardone University, an online platform for business and finance education. At only 14-15 years old, these exceptional students are a powerful reminder of the potential every child possesses. Given the proper mentorship and support, they can turn that potential into reality.
Portia Richardson, Founder and CEO of Tumaini DC, expressed her gratitude for Grant Cardone and the Grant Cardone Foundation. Mr. Cardone was there from the very beginning, she explained. When she first pitched Tumaini in a room full of investors, Mr. Cardone rallied people around her. But he was the only one who kept his promises to support her initiative.
“That’s why I really respect Grant Cardone. I respect the Grant Cardone Foundation and the work they do because their words and actions are aligned. They’re really doing the work to make an impact,” Ms. Richardson said.
The Grant Cardone Foundation looks forward to a continuing partnership with Tumaini DC and seeing how the young entrepreneurs of Seed LA will build businesses that change the world.
