The 11th Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled Closed


TAIZHOU, China–()–On the morning of September 20th, the closing ceremony of The 11th Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled was held in the Sports Culture and Innovation Center of Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone. Hu Nailiang, executive deputy director of the Organizing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled and first-class inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation, announced the closing. Zhou Xiaohui, executive deputy director and deputy mayor of the Organizing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled, delivered a closing speech. At the closing ceremony, the Sports Moral Fashion Award, Excellent Organization Award and Outstanding Contribution Award were awarded. CRI hosted the overseas media outreach of the event.

Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled, held once every four years, is the largest and highest-standard comprehensive sports event for the disabled in the province. It is a comprehensive review of the development achievements of sports for the disabled, and also a stage for the disabled to show themselves and realize their dreams. A total of 18 events including wheelchair fencing, weightlifting, track and field, table tennis, badminton, sitting volleyball and blind cricket were set up in The 11th Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled, and 1,005 athletes from 13 districts and cities in the province took part. This time, 94 athletes from Taizhou participated in 17 events except wheelchair fencing, which was the highest number of all previous events and participants. They won 40 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.

For the first time, Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled and The Games of Jiangsu Province were held in the same city in the same year, which is of more special significance and far-reaching influence. Under the background of normal epidemic prevention and control, the Organizing Committee of the Games adhered to the concept of “simplicity, safety and splendor”, and the whole city meticulously organized, fully guaranteed and enthusiastically served, making it a high-level sports event with distinctive features, safety, thrift, splendor and perfection. After the closing ceremony, a cultural performance was held.
