NACD Chicago Chapter Announces New Board Members, Sponsors


The Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) today announced the election of Shermin Kruse and Maria Wynne to its board of directors, as well as two new corporate sponsors, Charles River Associates and Wintrust Financial Corp.

CHICAGO, July 21, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) today announced the election of Shermin Kruse and Maria Wynne to its board of directors, as well as two new corporate sponsors, Charles River Associates and Wintrust Financial Corp.

Wynne, CEO of Leadership Greater Chicago, serves on the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and is president of the Goodman Theatre board. Kruse, an attorney and professor at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, is a best-selling author, TEDx producer and member of multiple nonprofit boards.

Charles River Associates (CRA) is a leading global consulting firm that offers economic, financial, and strategic expertise to major law firms, corporations, accounting firms and governments. Wintrust Financial Corp. is a holding company that operates 15 chartered community banks in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Shermin Kruse Background

Kruse is a global business specialist with decades of legal practice and teaching experience. Prior to teaching at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, she was a partner at Barack Ferrazzano for 17 years. She is the co-owner of Kruse Asset Management, an independent investment advisory firm that provides disciplined quantitative portfolio management to its clients. Kruse chairs the board of Ideas, American Style Corp., which films TED and TEDx talks, and serves on the board of Pasfarda Arts and Cultural Organization. She previously served on nearly a dozen nonprofit boards. She is a best-selling novelist and her first textbook on global transactions is scheduled for publication in late 2022. Kruse earned a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and a J.D. from the University of Michigan.

Maria Wynne Background

As CEO of Leadership Greater Chicago, Wynne works with leading executives and subject matter experts from Chicago’s corporate, education, government and nonprofit sectors to transform the region’s civic leadership landscape. She is the founder of the LGC Daniel Burnham Fellowship, a civic leadership accelerator for senior executives. Wynne was recognized as one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ Most Powerful Latinos and received the prestigious Maestro of Entrepreneurship Award from Latino Leaders Magazine. A former tech executive, Wynne led significant transformations at Microsoft, Xerox and Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Wynne is an independent director at Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, president of the Goodman Theatre Board of Trustees and treasurer of P33 Chicago, which is focused on driving inclusive global tech and innovation in the Chicago area. Wynne earned a B.A. from North Central College and an MBA from Northern Illinois University.
