Motorola Moto G4 Plus Android Oreo update confiremed
In the last week, Motorola has published the list of smartphones that will get the Android 8.0 Oreo OS update on the company’s official blog. Unfortunately, the Moto G4 series smartphones are not in the list which is lit bit strange. Before 18 months ago, when the company launched the Motorola Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play smartphone, it confirmed in May 2016 that the Moto G4Plus would be receiving the Android O update.
In the promotional materials, there was mentioned that the Moto G4 Plus would be upgraded to Android Operating System N(Nougat) and O (Oreo). But it was removed by the company from the marketing materials. Now the company is confirmed that the Moto G4 Plus will be upgraded to the Android 8.0 Oreo. But the Moto-G4 Plus is the only smartphone in the Moto G4 series that will be receiving the Android Oreo update.
Today, Motorola says that The Android Oreo update for the Moto G4 Plus was not planned. There is no official confirmed a date for the Android 8.0 Oreo OS update for the phone. The Motorola will publish the details on the company’s software update page when it releases the Android Oreo update for the device.
All the Motorola Moto G4 series smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, the company already updated them to Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The MotoG4 Plus is the only member of the Moto G4 family that will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo Update.
Here’s Motorola’s full official statement on the matter:
It’s been brought to our attention that there were some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for Moto G4 Plus. This was an oversight on our part and we apologize for this miscommunication. It’s our general practice for the Moto G family to get one major OS upgrade per device, but it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading Moto G4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit it into our upgrade schedule. Watch our software upgrade page for more information.
