Google gives employees an option to work from home by 2021

Nearly 2 lakh Google employees and contractors can work from home globally

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, Google is extending its work from home (WFH) option for employees until June next year globally, including India.
In an email to employees, Sundar Pichai, said, “To give employees the ability to plan, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through 30 June 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office.”
Employees of the legendary tech company Google will now be able to work from home by 2021. Earlier the company allowed its employees to work from home until December 2020. It has now been extended to July 2021. The company has taken this decision given the growing case of the coronavirus epidemic worldwide.
India is a key market for Google which has a major presence in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Pichai recently launched the Google for India Digitization Fund with a commitment of investing ₹75,000 crores (about $10 billion) in the next 5-7 years towards digitizing the Indian economy.

The company sent information to employees by email

According to reports, Google CEO Sundar Pichai took this decision last week. An email has been sent to employees from the company. In this, Sundar Pichai has said that now our employees will have the option of voluntarily working from home till June 30, 2021. Nearly 2 lakh employees and contractors at Google are increasingly seeing the option of working from home globally. This option can continue till July next year.

Other giants have also given relief to employees

Another giant tech company, Facebook has allowed most of its employees to work from home or work from home by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Twitter has said that it will allow all employees to work from home indefinitely. Legendary e-commerce company Amazon has advised its employees to work from home by October this year. Now 33 percent of the employees of Infosys, the country’s second-largest information technology (IT) company, will be able to work from home forever. A total of 2 lakh 42 thousand 371 employees work in the company globally. Out of these, now 80 thousand employees have been permitted to work from a permanent home.
