Oppo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer is going ahead with its grand ‘Make in India’ plans in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The Sri City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will host Foxconn’s facility to manufacture phones for the Oppo. Kai Feng, vice general manager, Oppo Mobiles, India division informed the reporters about the development while launching brand new Oppo Neo7, company’s 4G smartphone which will be sold for Rs.9, 990.
As far as the specifications are concerned, Neo7 hosts 5 inch qHD (960x540p) TFT display. 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor runs Android 5.0 (Lollipop) smoothly on the device with the help of 1GB RAM. 16GB internal storage can be expanded via microSD card. The company has added its custom skin ColorOS 2.1 for better user experience.
Neo 7 is powered by 2,420mAh battery, which is non removable. For shutterbugs, it sports 8MP primary shooter along with a 5MP front-facing lens. The phone will operate on 2G, 3G and 4G bandwidths.
As of now, Oppo India imports phones from Chinese factories to fulfil the demands in India. The vice general manager told press that the company just recently started production at Sri City SEZ. The trial runs are in full swing with its upcoming Joy Plus smartphone. OEM partner Foxconn has created separate assembly line to create Oppo smartphones in its new unit.
Looking at increasing demand in India along with growth in the smartphone segment, Oppo is considering to build its own factory in India. The latest data released by Oppo reveals that the Chinese firm has sold more than 4 lakh phones in India till now. The officials told that the number will be three times bigger by March 2016.
