Spotify on Thursday announced the acquisition of Podz, a podcast discovery platform. Podz is a platform that provides a short clip as a teaser for a podcast. These teasers are referred to the users so that they can decide which podcast they want to listen to. Podz’s integration with Spotify will be completed by the end of this year. To recall, earlier this week, the company announced Greenroom as a rival to the popular audio-only chat platform Clubhouse. “We’re investing in building and scaling the world’s best (and most personalized) podcast Discovery Experience,”
Spotify said in its blog announcing the acquisition. Like we mentioned Podz is such a platform that helps users to discover new podcasts daily based on their tastes and preferences. Podz recommends three episodes per day to its users on various bases.
The blog further reads, “We are confident that Podz’s technology will complement and accelerate Spotify’s focused efforts to drive discovery, provide listeners with the right content at the right time, and accelerate category growth around the world.”
Spotify will soon be bringing Podz technology to its platform, it is said that users will be able to experience this new element on the Spotify platform by the end of this year.
Earlier this week Spotify announced the launch of Greenroom which is a rival to Clubhouse. Greenroom allows users to engage in live session discussions.
