Previously, there were some rumors that claimed that the Xiaomi would unveil the second Generation Mi MIX smartphone in September, called Mi MIX 2. The company has confirmed by posting a poster on its official Weibo account, that revealed the Xiaomi is holding an event on September 11 to launch the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 smartphone.
According to the released image, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will feature a 2.0 design full-screen display. The company is holding an event on Sep. 11 at 2 PM local time in Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. According to the rumors, Apple would be unveiled the iPhone 8 along with iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus on Sep. 12. It looks like the company might be launching the direct competitor of the Apple iPhone 8.
In the poster image, there is one smartphone design that suggests the Mi MIX will come with a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor. For the Mi MIX design, a French designer Phillipe Starck worked with Xiaomi. The Phillipe Starck teased a video with the conceptual design of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Some rumors claim the Phillipe Starck and Xiaomi collaborated for the Mi MIX 2 design. The MI MIX 2 is expected to come with 95% screen to body ratio.
The Mi MIX 2 predecessor came with the 6.4-inch display while the Mi MIX 2 will have a smaller 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, according to rumors. The MI MIX 2 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with Octa-core CPU inside. It is supposed to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box along with MIUI 9 running on top. It is expected to be packed with 3,400 mAh battery under the hood.
According to the rumor mill, the MI MIX 2 will come with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage option. There is speculate the company would launch the advanced model of the phone that will have 8 GB of RAm and 256 GB internal storage option. The Mi MIX 2 is expected to come with metallic chassis. Xiaomi may unveil the 3D facial recognition feature.
The 6 GB Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is expected to be priced at 3,999 Yuan (~$600) while the advance 8 GB RAM model is expected to be priced at 4,999 Yuan (~$750).
