Sony G8541 phone appeared with 6.2-inch display, SD 838 SoC and Android Oreo

Sony, a Japanese smartphone manufacturer, is holding an event on August 31st at IFA 2017 event. According to the rumors mill that claimed the company would launch the Sony Xperia Xz1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact devices with flagship specs and features. There also speculated that the Sony would announce the Xperia X1 along with those devices. A new device from Sony has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking site with Sony G8541 model number, which means the company may launch a new phablet.

The spotted Sony device comes with 6.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels of resolution.It will be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood along with Adreno 540 GPU. It has 4 GB of RAM and internal storage option. According to the GFXBench, the listed Sony device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with the company’s own UI running on top.

The Sony listed device featured with 18 megapixels camera on the back side which is capable of shooting 4K video. It could be the same camera as the Xperia XZ premium and Xperia XZ smartphones. There is a 12-megapixel camera on the front side which also supports 4K video recording feature. It has Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS connectivity features and barometer, gyroscope, proximity and accelerometer sensors.

There is another display model listed with the same Sony G8541 model number. The another Sony model has a 12.3-inch display with 3840 x 2160 pixels of resolution. There is a possibility that the company may launch a tablet version of the device or it could be a miscalculation. According to the report, Sony G8541 model number device could be the second generation phablet of the company’s Xperia Z Ultra which was launched in 2013. The Sony G8541 device is expected to launch with name Xperia Xz1 Ultra.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are expected to be packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood along with 4 GB of RAM on board. The Sony Xperia XZ1 is supposed to come with 5.2-inch 1080 pixels of resolution display and 3000 mAh battery inside. While the Xperia XZ1 Compact is expected to come with 4.6-inch 720p resolution display and 2800mAh battery.  Both smartphones will run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box. The Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact smartphones have 12 megapixels camera on the front side and 18 megapixels camera on the back side.
