Smartphone brands get ready for high sales Diwali season

The festive season is on in India and even smartphone companies are gearing up for high demand season. The Diwali period drives more than 30 percent of annual sales in the country. The companies are stocking up their warehouses to meet the demands. Micromax, Lenovo, Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus have also launched special schemes to lure the customers. The data from recent quarter during the July-September period predicts that imports and local production of smartphone have increased by 12 percent.  The world’s third largest mobile phone market had more than 28.3 million units of brand new phones for sale during this period. All brands except Samsung have shown more than 6 percent growth in the shipment, according to the data released by market research firm Counterpoint Technology.

The smartphone markets are getting more competitive in India day by day and each brand wants to expand its reach to the consumers. The OnePlus has diverted its global stocks to the country for this festive season. A Samsung official informed the press that their factories are equipped to meet high demands during festivals and the company expects very strong growth in India.  Company’s production unit in Noida is working in extra shifts to meet the demands. The Samsung recently launched 4G smartphones in mid-level categories.

Apple, Samsung’s most fierce competitor in high end mobile segment managed to sell more than 3, 90,000 phone last month. The growth is unprecedented as the California based company sold just 10,000 units in September. Apple’s brand new iPhone6S will make its way in Indian market on the occasion of Diwali. The company expects to sell its popular devices in tablet category too. India’s number two smartphone maker has informed that it sold 5.5 million units during August to October period.
