Design
Oppo R11 has a metal unibody design. The screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The unique feature of the design is its antenna curve at the bottom and top edge of the device. This antenna curve has added charm to the phone. The phone is looking beautiful as well as you can have a strong grip. At the top rights corner, there is a dual camera setup slightly humped.
Oppo R11 is a very slim device with just 6.8mm width. Oppo R11 has thick bezel at top and bottom with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front, the fingerprint scanner is combined with home key. Polished metal rim has power key on right side and volume toggle button at the left side. Over all the Oppo put up a smart design with a great look. Oppo has worked smartly by putting a 16M colors supporting capacitive touchscreen power by AMOLED. Like most of the middle range device, the screen size is 5.5 inches. We always have high hope with AMOLED, however, Oppo R11 does not have optic AMOLED still our threshold of satisfaction is very high.
In the 1080p resolution, pixels are arranged in the diamond pattern just like the Galaxy S8. Oppo R11 can stretch up to 410 nits which are pretty awesome brightness. You will not feel blind in the sunlight. R11 has a contrast score of 4.131 which is very impressive. Colors are fine but seem over saturated. Toning of the RGB is the reason behind the over saturated colors. Largely very fine screen with great brightness and contrast serves the purpose.
Processor and Memory
The phone is not a something you keep in just to show. A well-designed device must be complimented with a smartly designed System on Chip. Oppo R11 is built on Qualcomm MSM8956 Plus Snapdragon 660 chip which is an octa-core chip. It has eight Kryo CPU. Four Kryo 260 clocked at 2.2GHz and four other Kryo 260 with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Adreno 512 has been put up in SoC to fine tune graphical performance of the device.
It has 4 GB RAM so that CPU and GPU can be fed timely. On a GeekBench 4.1 multi-core test R11 has scored 5777 which is a remarkable improvement as compared to its predecessors. On a GeekBench 4.1 single core, it has scored 1596. In the most important compound, AnTuTu 6 test Oppo R11 has scored 118677 which is very impressive for a Snapdragon 660 chip. With 5V/4A charging output it gets fully charged in less than one and half hour. 3000 mAh Li-Po Battery is not something great but a fair size with a mid-range device. To optimize the power uses Oppo R11 has some algorithm to save power. Color OS detects and enables power saving mode so save power. You can customize the power saving mode from the settings. The Oppo R11 has given the overall time of 81 hours and a bit more than 18 hours talk time on the 3G network.
Camera
Oppo markets its phone by the tagline of “Camera Phone” by putting such slogan Oppo has brought itself under pressure to provide the great camera with great features. R11 has a dual camera setup at the rear side and a single camera on the front side. The rear dual camera setup is a combination of a 16-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.7 which is a regular sensor and 20-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.6 which is and telephoto lens.
The camera is equipped with a great software support to provide you great shooting experience. Interphase is a bit look alike of iOS. It supports 2x Optical zoom. The picture quality is great. Colors are true and sharp. The regular sensor is used in low light image capturing and it gives great result due to the eclectic aperture. You can take portrait pictures where you can blur the background by keeping the subject in focus.
The front camera is also great and supports bokeh effect. You can capture videos of 4K, 1080p, and 720p quality at 30 fps with stereo audio recording at 96Kbps Oppo has lived up to its “ Camera Phone” tag with great software and hardware integration.
Interface
Oppo runs on ColorOS 3.1, which is Oppo’s Operating system built on the base of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The interface is similar to Android, however, all the app icon are on home screen, there is no app drawer in ColorOS launcher. Fingerprint sensor speed is lightning fast. Once you setup the fingerprint sensor you cannot wake your phone up by a home button with the registered finger. Oppo has a great collection of themes which are free to download. The exceptional feature of the ColorOS is the off screen gesture. Oppo R11 has inbuilt gesture which can be assigned task according to your convenient. Now you just draw that gesture on off screen and the phone will perform the action. In case of the lock, it will prompt for unlocking.
Price and Availability
Oppo R11 was released in June 2017 and available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold colors. However, it has only one variant of 64GB which can be extended through micro SD card. Oppo does not have a dedicated slot for micro SD, therefore, it uses sim 2 slots for it. The price of the R11 device is around 400 EUR which is around 29,000 INR.
