Instagram is shutting down this app, know what users can do now.

With its recent move, Facebook has made it clear that the company will focus on the short video format reels going forward. Following that path, Instagram has now announced that it is ending support for its standalone app for IGTV. According to the report, the company will remove the app from the App Store next month. The move comes a few months after the Meta-owned platform combined the IGTV video concept and feed video into a single unit called Instagram Videos. “We will focus on having all videos on the main Instagram app. We believe this makes it easier for people to have all these features and capabilities in the main app, and to keep videos in the main Instagram app in the coming months.” Excited to continue to simplify and improve.”

Apart from this, the company is bringing features like full screen viewer and tap to mute option. Instagram is also working to create a way to share your videos, bring together creation tools and introduce new ways to discover content. The platform will also start testing a new ad experience that will allow creators to earn money from ads that appear on their reels. The revenue from advertisements will be separate from the bonus.

For those unaware, videos posted on feed can now be 60 minutes long. Before the change, this limit for posting videos was reserved for IGTV videos and users had to leave the main application to view those videos.

Users can now upload videos up to 60 minutes by tapping on the ‘+’ in the top right corner of the home page. The video preview on the main page is now 60 seconds and the preview is limited to 15 seconds if it qualifies as an ad.
