Sania Mirza does it again with her Swiss partner Martina Hingis after defeating the Russian duo of Elena Vasnina and Ekaterina Makarova by 7-5,6-1 and making them the winners of the WTA Miami doubles champions. This will be her 25th career WTA doubles title overall.
The pair had beaten the Russian team before when they faced them in the Indian wells final, it was the first doubles title won by both these players together.
Hingis credited Sania’s father for his timely advice which had completely changed the outcome of the game in the second set.
The duo will be travelling next to Singapore for their next tournament and are already riding high as this cruicial win leapfrogged their doubles ranking from No 9 all the way to No 3.
Sania is just 145 points away from becoming the World No 1 in Individual doubles ranking. The top place is currently held by a joint ranking of Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani.
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis have been giving a top notch performance ever since they joined forces a year ago. They are currently on a 10 match winning streak and at the same time hold a 20-0 set victories.
