Report: IPL 2020 Auction to be held in Kolkata on December 19

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction for the 2020 edition will take place on December 19, 2019 in Kolkata. This will be the first time when the auction will take place at a different venue as BCCI have been selecting Bengaluru as the venue in the previous editions.

As per a report by ESPN Cricinfo, this is also the last small auction before 2021 as major auctions will take place in the next year. 2018 was the year when last auction like this took place where franchise owners were allowed to retain just five players and rest, a whole new squad was built.

The deadline for the trading window has also been set to November 14, 2019. After this, no team will be able to buy players other than from the auction.

Taking about the transfer window, Delhi Capitals (DC) is the hottest team there. They have roped in Mayank Markande form Mumbai Indians (MI) and shifted Sherfane Rutherford to them. They are also in talks with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to get Ajinkya Rahane and Ravi Ashwin to their side.

DC is also the team that has the heaviest purse at the moment with Rs 7.7 crore with them. On the other hand, with Rs 1.80 crore Royal Challengers Bangalore is at the last spot in this list.

Chennai Super Kings: Rs 3.2 crore

Delhi Capitals: Rs 7.7 crore

Kings XI Punjab: Rs 3.7 crore

Kolkata Knight Riders: Rs 6.05 crore

Mumbai Indians: Rs 3.55 crore

Rajasthan Royals: Rs 7.15 crore

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rs 1.80 crore

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Rs 5.30 crore.
