Ashish Nehra explains the reason behind Jasprit Bumrah’s Stress Fracture

Ace Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah is suffering from a stress fracture in his lower back region. He was also ruled out from the 15-member squad that was announced for the three home Test matches against South Africa. He was earlier there in the squad but now Umesh Yadav will be there to take his place.

Former Indian spearhead Ashish Nehra got vocal about Jasprit Bumrah’s injury in an interview that he gave to SportStar. He also went on to say about the possible reasons behind the fracture and whether it is related to his bowling action or not. This issue arose after various experts from the cricket community started calling his ‘unorthodox’ action as the reason behind this.

Nehra completely denied to this fact and said that stress fracture is unrelated to action and everyone must get their concepts clear regarding this. Bumrah doesn’t need to change his action and if he tries to do that, it won’t be great news. Adding to this, he also told that he is quite sure that whenever Bumrah will make a comeback, he will be able to bowl with the same action, intensity and pace.

Talking about his action, Nehra quoted, “His action is not that unconventional as everyone thinks it is. The alignment of his body at the time he releases the delivery is perfectly fine. Also, comparing his action to that of Lasith Malinga is not right as he has a 10 times better action than the Sri Lankan.

Nehra is one of the most apt players to speak upon this issue as he was also India’s front line pacers during his time. Also, everyone is aware about his history and the fact about his multiple injuries and their surgeries.

He also threw light on the young career of Jasprit Bumrah and said that he has played just three years of international cricket. He must realize the times when there is a need for him to take rest and manage his workload as being the premium bowler of the Indian Team is not an easy task.

As far as the reports are concerned, there is no such news about the comeback of Bumrah or the status of his injury. Everyone just hope that there is nothing major to worry about and Bumrah returns soon as he has left some huge boots to fill in for any other bowler.
