WORLD CUP: Fans gather in massive number to welcome the 2018 FIFA World Champions France

2018 FIFA World Champions, France comprehensively beat Croatia 4-2 to claim the World cup for the second time ever. The Final took place in Moscow on Sunday. Fans started celebrating overnight and gave the team a grand welcome when they returned on Monday. Eiffel Tower and the arc de Triomphe were lit up in the National colours during the night.

Starting  the World Cup as an underdog side Croatia shocked everyone by  beating England 2-1 in the Semi final and securing a spot to fight for the cup. “We will not get Overconfident and take Croatia lightly” said Paul Pogba in an interview before the Final.  Kylian Mbappe became only the second teenager to score in the final and has now become a world wide sensation at just the age of 19. Croatia seemed determined and gave France a tough fight for the Cup.

When the French Team returned they were first greeted at the Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport. Fans were screaming  and shouting with joy, heavy police force was deployed to control the large crowd that gathered to welcome and celebrate the victory. Then a parade was carried out by the fans which ended at Elysee Palace where the team was greeted by the President himself.

President Macron promised to award the team with Legion of Honour which is only given to those who perform exceptional services for the country. Thousands of guests from Local clubs were invited at the Elysee garden, the team thanked the fans for their amazing support. Later the team attended a lavish dinner at the posh Hotel de Crillon.
