Neymar Childhood Days

Born on 5th of February 1992 to Neymar Santos Sr. and Nadine da Silva, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior wasn’t new to the world of football. Neymar Jr. Inherited his name from his father, Neymar Santos Sr, who was a professi onal footballer but not an outstanding player. Although currently Neymar Jr is one of the richest footballers, he didn’t lead a lavish life as 

kid. Since his father was a striker and the sole earner in the family, Neymar and his family never settled properly and were travelling most of the time. He was born in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, a state in Brazil and moved to Sao Vicente, a beach town 50km south of Sao Paulo when he was six years of age.

Professional Football Journey of Neymar Jr

In 2003, he was spotted by Santos FC, who offered him a contract and he further went on to join their youth academy. The club is known to produce players like Coutinho, Clodoaldo, Diego, Elano and Alex. Neymar made his professional debut at an early age of 17. He became a part of the Brazil National Team on 10th of August 2010, his team won 2-0 with Neymar scoring a goal. For the first time since 1963, Neymar helped his club win the 2011 Copa Libertadores. Along with the 2011 Copa Libertadores, he helped his club win two successive Campeonato Paulista championships and a Copa do Brasil. On 24th May 2013, an announcement by Santos stated that Neymar had received two offers, one of them was from Barcelona.

On 3rd of June 2013 a five-year contract between Neymar and Barcelona was made where he decided to join them. Since then, there has been no turning back for the ace footballer. During the years 2013-14, he initially substituted for many players. Some of them include Alexis Sanchez in the 2013-14 La Liga match, which the team won 7-0. Neymar scored his first competitive goal for the club, when he came as a substitute for Pedro in the 2013 Supercopa de España against Atlético Madrid. Post the 2015 UEFA Champions League, Neymar became the first player to score in final victories in both competitions (Copa Libertadores and the UEFA Champions League) and became the joint highest scorer with Cristiano Ronaldo and teammate Lionel Messi by scoring 39 goals in all competitions and 10 in the Champions League. 

Playing Style

Neymar’s unique style of playing gives him an edge over his competitors like scoring from both his feet although he is right footed, he prefers playing as either a central striker, second striker, winger or occasionally as an attacking midfielder.  

Neymar is the third highest Brazilian scorer for his national team after Pele and Ronaldo. Not winning a World Cup hasn’t stopped him from winning the hearts of the people from all over the world and he continues to enjoy the position of one of the highest paid footballers in the World.
