SRH vs RR IPL 2019: Warner, Rashid stun RR, Samson ton in vain

David Warner’s 69-run knock of 37 balls and critical support from Jonny Bairstow and Rashid Khan enabled SRH to win their first match in IPL 2019. Meanwhile Sanju Samson’s incredible hundred, the first off IPL 2019 went in vain.

David Warner sets the game with contributions from Bairstow and Shankar

Chasing 199 runs, SRH got of to a flying start as David Warner continued from where he left in the first match. Warner hammered Dhawal Kulkarni for a six in the first over and since then there was no looking back for him.

His partner, Jonny Bairstow ensured there was no reprieve for RR bowlers from the other end as he cantered 45 runs off 28 balls.

Warner fell in the 10th over but by then SRH had scored 110 runs and Warner struck 69 runs off 37 balls.

After that Rajasthan tried to stage a comeback but Vijay Shankar scored 35 off just 15 balls to push Hyderabad closer to win.

Rashid Khan scored a six and a four in the 19th over to seal the win for Hyderabad.

 Rahane delivers as Buttler fails

Earlier in the day, Rashid Khan delivered a decisive blow to Rajasthan by removing Jos Buttler in the fourth over of the innings. But Ajinkya Rahane clobbered 70 runs off 49 balls to set the foundation for Rajasthan.

Samson’s class act

The show of the day was Sanju Samson who guided Rajasthan in the middle overs and then provided the flourish in death overs. Samson scored the first hundred of IPL 2019 and made the SRH bowlers pay a heavy price for their errors in the death overs.

He was especially brutal against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He scored 24 runs off Bhuvi’s 18th over and then Ben Stokes added 21 in the 20th over to take Rajasthan to 198 runs.

Rashid Khan man of the match for incredible performance

Meanwhile SRH bowler Rashid Khan gave away just 24 runs in his four overs and got the big wicket of Buttler. He also slammed winning runs for SRH. This performance earned him MOM award.
