MI vs DC IPL 2019: Watch Pollard’s one-handed brilliant catch ends Iyer’s innings

Kieron Pollard is tough to keep out of action. In batting his powerful sixes grab attention while in fielding his acrobatic skills makes him take take center stage. And in the game between MI vs DC, Pollard displayed his stunning fielding skills as he grabbed a one handed diving catch to get rid of Shryas Iyer.

Shreyas Iyer the Capitals’ skipper had started with a bang and had quickly moved on to 18 runs off just nine balls. It seemed like he will take the game away from Mumbai but in the fourth over Pollard pulled out a stunner to cut short Iyer’s party.

McClenaghan pitched the ball up and Iyer who was in ominous touch went for a drive on the up. The ball was struck well and was travelling at some speed through covers. But stationed there inside the thirty yard circle, the Mumbai Indians’ player leapt to his right and grabbed the ball in one hand.

Pollard caught the ball mid-air single-handedly and landed on the field without dropping the ball. It was a surreal fielding effort as Pollard hardly had any time to catch the ball.

The most crucial part of Pollard’s brilliant catch was the timing of his dive and his focus on the ball. The right-hander timed his dive to perfection and kept his eyes on the ball all the way.

The catch earned Mumbai the crucial wicket of Iyer and enabled them to dictate the terms early in the innings. Delhi slipped to two down for 29 runs and it took considerable time for Collin Ingram and Shikhar Dhawan to rebuild the innings.

However Pollard’s sensational catching effort went in vain as Mumbai lost the match by 37 runs. Rishabh Pant’s decisive assault of 78 runs off 27 balls took Delhi to 213 runs and in reply Mumbai managed to get only 173 runs.
