IPL: A Boon for Indian Cricketers

Who isn’t excited about IPL? Well, it’s a stupid question as there are no bounds to the insanity that happens during this “cricket carnival”. People remain hooked to their television sets. Not only in India but even globally, the viewers become super crazy during this cricket period. Here in India, people celebrate cricket, after all, it’s not just a sport to us!

Well talking about our cricketers, especially young and upcoming ones, they make a lot out of this opportunity. The kind of experience they get in IPL, while practising and sharing their dressing room with well renowned international players like Maxwell, Dhoni, Virat, Gayle is beyond comparison to any experience they would have got in their formative years had IPL, not ben around. They get to learn about different techniques and tactics which these players use to excel in a match.

IPL also provides a platform to the new emerging junior cricketers to showcase their talent. Many young cricketers like Shubhman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant made their way to the Indian cricket team on the basis of their spectacular performance in IPL. Among senior cricketers, we can name Ashwin, Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav and Mohit Sharma who won India cap after doing well in IPL.

IPL provides financial security to its players which was reserved only for international players before it came into being.

All IPL teams are equally strong as every team has good bowlers, batsmen and fielders and all matches are keenly contested. As a result, players get to get exposed to crunch situations which help them while playing international matches.

IPL has not only proved to be a boon for cricket but it has taken sports as a whole to a new level. It may not be in your notice that many other sports have started having leagues similar to IPL. Examples – Hockey Football, Tennis, Badminton, Kabaddi leagues were started by respective federations on the lines of IPL.

IPL matches take place all over the country so the fans need not travel to watch their favourite start perform.

Different teams are represented by different colors, flags, jerseys. IPL just keeps getting better and better as the teams are owned by famous personalities like Mukesh Ambani and Bollywood faces like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta etc. and players of the stature of Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Saurav Ganguly, Laxman, Dravid are involved in team mentoring and strategizing.

Not only the cricket fans but the Bollywood fans too remain glued to the television sets, praying for their favourite team to win. My advice to the viewers? Sit back, garb a popcorn and watch your favorite team play. Let the craziness begin.
