Finch steadies Australia’s ship
Australia had a disastrous start as Usman Khawaja was out in the first over and Shaun Marsh too departed in the 6th over. But then Aaron Finch added 84 runs with Peter Handscomb for the third wicket.
But Handscomb and Stoinis departed in quick succession and problems hoovered over Australia’s camp. However Finch who regained his form recently scored another solid innings and smashed 90 runs off 136 balls.
Maxwell makes a statement
Meanwhile Glenn Maxwell delivered the finishing blows and scored 71 runs off 55 balls. Australia finished with 266 runs off their 50 overs.
Cummins derails Pakistan’s chase
In response, Pakistan’s innings never took off thanks to Pat Cummins who claimed three Pakistani top-order batsmen in his first four overs. By strangling Pakistan to three down for 16 runs he virtually derailed Pakistan’s chase.

Maxwell then finished Imam-ul-Haq’s resistance and Nathan Lyon produced the key wicket of Shoaib Malik. Umar Akmal and Imad Wasim fought for a while but the target was too steep to climb.
Adam Zampa weaved his magic and took care of Pakistan’s tail. The leggie finished with four wickets and was the highest wicket-taker for Australia.
Cummins was declared the man of the match for his sensational burst of new ball bowling that claimed three wickets.
