Kevin O Brien

Match: Ireland vs England

Although his team couldn’t make it to the 2011 World Cup Final, O Brien’s 113 off 50 balls was obviously a record which helped his team win the match against England. In a neck to neck match, England put up a target of 327 runs for the Irish batsmen to chase. It was Kevin O Brien who turned out to be the savior for his team and Ireland won the match by 3 wickets.

Sanath Jayasuriya

Match: Sri Lanka vs Pakistan

Back in 1996, Singer Cup was held in Singapore with India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan competing against each other. Pakistan won the cup and Sri Lanka was the runners up. The opening match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan was won by Sri Lanka with Sanath Jayasuriya setting up a record of scoring the fastest ODI hundred by scoring 134 off 48 balls. He eclipsed Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of scoring a century from 62 balls.

Jos Buttler

Match: England vs Pakistan

Eighth in the list is Buttler, who smashed 116 off 46 balls against Pakistan. Winning the toss and opting to bat first proved to be in favor of the English. They put up a record of 355 runs for Pakistan to chase in the last match of the four match ODI Series. Pakistan was all out after scoring 271 runs, thereby losing the match and the series. Jos Buttler became the Man of the Match and the Series as well.

Jesse Ryder

Match: New Zealand vs West Indies

The Kiwis had a dynamic start to the New Year as they won the first ODI match of the year and two of their team players scored the fastest century in the same match. Although his record was overshadowed by teammate Anderson in the same match, Jesse Ryder scored a 104 off 46 runs against West Indies and proved to be a major support for his team’s victory in the match.

Shahid Afridi

Matches: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka & Pakistan vs India

The only player who occupies two positions, 3 and 6, in the list is Shahid Afridi of Pakistan. Afridi’s first fastest century was scored in Kenya Cricket Association Centenary Tournament (also known as the Sameer Cup), a four team ODI cricket tournament held in Kenya during the 1996–97 season. Although his team lost in the finals against South Africa, his quick 102 off 37 against Sri Lanka, was a record that remained unbeaten for the next 18 years and this score helped his team prevail over Sri Lanka in a crucial match.

The second time, in a closely contested match against their arch rivals, India, Afridi scored 102 off 45, thus helping his team beat India and go 3-2 up in the series.

Brian Lara

Match: West Indies vs Bangladesh

Although the West Indians batsmen gave an average display of batting that day, Lara’s 117 off 45 and Chanderpaul’s 77 off 87, helped West Indies put up a challenging score for Bangladeshis to chase. Failing to achieve the score, Bangladesh lost the match. Brian Lara was declared Man of the Match for his fastest century and West Indies won the two-match series by 2-0.

Mark Boucher

Match: South Africa vs Zimbabwe

Fourth on the list is Mark Boucher’s 147 off 44 balls. It helped his team in putting up a challenging score of 418 runs off 50 overs for Zimbabwe to chase. Zimbabwe ended up scoring 247 runs, thereby losing the match and the series by 2-0. Mark Boucher was declared Man of the Match and the Man of the series as well.

CJ Anderson

Match: New Zealand vs West Indies

Anderson had a good start to the year 2014 as he scored the fastest century ever, a 131 off 36 balls against the West Indies. West Indies were leading the ODI Series by 1-0 before that match and Anderson’s century in the match leveled the series 1-1.

AB de Villiers

Match: West Indies vs South Africa

This South African cricketer needs no introduction! We all know that he’s one of the best batsmen in the history of cricket and he has proved it time and again. On 18th January 2015, the second ODI between West Indies and South Africa was played at Johannesburg.  West Indies were already lagging behind in the series by 1-0 and this ODI proved to be a major disaster for them. After winning the toss, West Indies chose to bowl first. The South African team put up a total of 439 runs for the loss of two wickets with Amla, De Villiers and Rossouw scoring 153,149 and 128 respectively. De Villiers was named Man of the Match for his brilliant 149 off 31 balls thereby setting a record of the fastest century in ODI cricket, a record that remains unbeaten till date.
