Afghanistan assigns the role of Head Coach to Lance Klusener

Former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener has been assigned with the role of Head Coach by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). He will start rendering his services from their ‘home’ series of one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is against West Indies which will take place in November-December. All these matches will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun.

ACB CEO Lutfullah Stanikzai broke this news to the public with a press release. He said, “the process was carried out successfully and as a conclusion,  Klusener has been been appointed with the responsibility of Head Coach who will commence his role with the series against West Indies in November.” He also acknowledged the fact that Lance Klusener is a renowned name in the cricketing world and it will be really beneficial for the Afghan players from the point of view of his vast experience both as a player and a coach.

Stanikzai extended his faith in Klusener’s presence and is sure that this decision would prove effective at next year’s T20 World Cup. He is sure that the team will now prepare well for the Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup in Australia which will take place in 2020.

Klusener is also excited to take this responsibility and will replace Phil Simmons, whose 18-month stint with the national side ended with their last-place finish in the World Cup. On the official website of ICC, Klusener said that he is extremely honored to be given this opportunity and is really excited to work with some of the best talent in world cricket.

Lance Klusener is Level 4 certified coach and has a massive coaching career in which he served a multiple renowned teams. This includes bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in IPL, South Africa National Academy’s consultant, batting coach of South Africa in Test matches, Head Coach of Dolphins in South Africa domestic cricket, batting coach of Zimbabwe. The most recent name in this list is services as a batting coach of South Africa in T20Is.
