President Donald Trump criticized by media as he was seen playing golf during Memorial day weekend

Mr. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, was paying his tributes to the deceased members of the American military on Monday as to mark the Memorial Day. He spent most of the Memorial day holiday weekend playing gold for which he was criticized by the media.

“Some stories about the fact that in order to get outside and perhaps, even a little exercise, I played golf over the weekend. The Fake & Totally Corrupt News makes it sound like a mortal sin – I knew this would happen!,” Trump tweeted.

President Trump received some unexpected support from one-time Obama adviser David Axelrod.

“I don’t often defend this @POTUS but I don’t begrudge him a round of golf,” Axelrod, now a political commentator, said on Twitter.

Besides, it gives the rest of us a respite from those crazy tweets! Yes, it’s hypocritical for @realDonaldTrump to have attacked @BarackObama for seeking some relief from the pressures of the presidency on the golf course when Trump has logged many more rounds,” he said.

“It’s also hypocritical to attack Trump for it now if you defended Obama then.”

Before becoming president, Trump had repeatedly criticised his predecessor, Democratic President Barack Obama, for playing golf, including during the 2014 Ebola outbreak.

“There are times to play and times that you can’t play. It sends the wrong signal, You know when you’re president you sorta say, like, ‘I’m gonna give it up for a couple of years and I’m really gonna focus on the job’,” he said at the time.

The US death toll due to the novel coronavirus neared 100,000. It was reported that The United States has more than 1.6 million novel coronavirus infections, and 98,223 deaths as of Tuesday. The death toll would exceed 100,000 by June 1, predicted the forecast models. All the 50 states have started relaxing their coronavirus restrictions hence causing the mounting death toll.

Trump has been urging the governors to restart their regular economic activities which were put on a hold due to the pandemic. He had also told the governors to reopen the places of worship over the weekend.
