Several iPhone users logged out of their Facebook accounts mysteriously

Many iPhone users reported that they had to enter their login credentials again to regain access to their accounts.

On Friday evening, several Facebook users turned to Twitter poring questions about why their FB accounts were logged out mysteriously. Surprisingly, it turned out that only iPhone users were affected and Android users did not report any issue.  Many users reported that they had to enter their login credentials again to regain access to their accounts.

Most users had to log in again but some of them had to face because the two-factor authentication (2FA) faced failed sessions.  An FB user who was logged out of the app wrote on Twitter, “Still locked out of Facebook. Not too bummed about the newsfeed and groups tbh, more bummed that there’s a possibility I won’t be able to recover a decade’s worth of photos and memories #facebookdown

Another user wrote, “Please help me! I’m going to lose my freaking business! 2FA is not working. I tried my trusted contracts, got the codes. Said identity confirmed but then said we ran into an issue. What the hell is going on?? I will lose my followers and livelihood!!!! HELP! #facebookdown”

From what it looks like, iPhone users not just in the United States across the globe were logged out of their FB  accounts.

Acknowledging the issue, a Facebook spokesperson told Engadget, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. We’re looking into reports that some people are currently having to login again to access their Facebook accounts. We believe this was due to a configuration change and we’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

Interestingly, Facebook decided to log its iOS users out of the app at a time when it is not on the best of terms with Apple over the former’s new privacy policies. Facebook had strongly voiced its opinion against Apple’s new policy of adding banners on top of its iOS app that would let users know about how much data it will collect. However, as per the latest developments, Facebook has agreed to comply with Apple’s new privacy policies. The social media company claimed that it had no choice but to comply with Apple’s new rules.
