PM Narendra Modi took COVAXIN produced by Bharat Biotech, against COVID-19 early morning on March 1, 2021, the Indian-researched and produced COVID-19 vaccine at all India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

PM Modi shared his picture on social media platforms and urges people to come together and let us make India COVID-19 free.

Along with his picture of taking a shot of COVID-19 he tweeted,” took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable, how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. He added that I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free.”

At a meeting of Chief Ministers on vaccination drive, “PM said, political leaders and legislators should allow health and frontline workers to get the COVAXIN dose first as they need protection. He also stated that most political leaders would get their turn when senior citizen aged above 50 would be allowed to get the dose.”

On March 1, 2021, the center permitted both government and private hospitals to administer the vaccine to those aged more than 45 years with declared co-morbidities.

It was noticed that PM minister looks was giving the strong message regarding upcoming elections in Puducherry, Assam, Kerala and West Bengal as the nurse who administered the vaccine jab to Modi was P Niveda belongs to Puducherry, Assisted by nurse Rosamma Ali from Kerala. Prime Minster wore an Assamese ‘Gamchha’, an interesting coincidence; Assam is another state going to polls.

It will boost the confidence of people and help them to overcome their fear and hesitation. It was heard that Prime Minister Modi was so light-hearted while taking the vaccine and asked Nurses from ‘where they belong’. Homegrown COVAXIN had faced lots of controversies. However, in January Chairman and MD, Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech clarified that the vaccine is safe and ready to conduct vaccination drive in over 12 countries.
