JNU protest against Afzal Guru hanging in Delhi receives strong criticism from politicians

The protests at JNU over Afzal Guru hanging have stormed Delhi’s political atmosphere. Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister informed that the government will never tolerate anti-national activities in the country.

The home minister has given orders to the Delhi police to take strong action against the students and activists involved in the protest. The incident has come into a national spotlight now. BJP MP Maheish Girri lodged a complaint against the protests in JNU. BJP’s student wing ABVP also complained about the same. The Delhi Police responded by filing sedition charges against the students in the JNU.

The protest was against the hanging of Afzal Guru, the person convicted for the attack on Parliament. Meanwhile Smriti Irani, another member of the cabinet condemned the protest. HRD Minister said,” Any insult to mother India will not be tolerated.”  Home Minister is also thinking about taking stringent action.

BJP MP Girri who lodge the FIR told the media that he is hopeful about the investigation. Congress responded by saying that ‘dialogue is the best solution.’ The opposition party also said that any extreme view about the situation should be avoided.

There was a death anniversary of the Afzal Guru on Tuesday. Group of students at JNU campus planned an event where slogans were given against the government for hanging Guru. ABVP members on the campus had already complained about the event to the administration and the management had denied the permission to the event. ABVP members think that the event is ‘anti-national’.

The FIR has been filed against SAR Geelani, Delhi University professor who allegedly present at the meeting. The sedition and criminal conspiracy charges have been slapped under IPC section 124 A and 120B respectively. JNU administration will take disciplinary action against student involved in the protest against Afzal Guru’s hanging in Delhi.
