Mirabai Chanu secured first gold medal at 2018 commonwealth games

Mirabai Chanu wins India’s first gold medal at commonwealth game s 2018. She has at her best at and gave excellent performance at Gold Coast, Australia. She lifted 86kgs in snatch and 10 kgs in clean and jerk rounds.

Mirabai Chanu was in the category of women’s 48 kg and managed to set a new Commonwealth record as well as personal best for her self. She made a glorious start of performance for India with an 86 kg lift in ‘snatch.’ She was at her best in commonwealth games 2018 at Gold Coast, Australia. Previously her personal best was 194kgs and recognized as one of the strongest contestants at Games existing year. As this year nobody had lifted more than 180kgs.

Mirabai Chanu after bagging the gold medal in women’s 48kg supposed ‘I want to do well in Asian Games and aiming next to win the gold medal.’ She alleged that ‘in the field of weightlifting the competition is very tough in Asia. China and Thailand are two countries which are on the top. If these two nations compete in Asian games, then it would be very difficult for me.’

She added that ‘I am very happy as this is my second commonwealth games.’ at her previous commonwealth games she won a silver medal.

When it was asked that how confident she was prior to games she supposed that she had no idea in terms of her win a medal. She said ‘I thought I would win at least a medal, only this was in my mind when I came here. However, I don’t have any idea that I would win the gold medal. I only thought that I would give my best performance and then only I can win the gold medal.’

Amanda Braddock, Mirabai Chanu’s closest rival failed to complete a single lift in clean and jerk round after managing best of 76 kgs in snatch round. In commonwealth games, 2018 silver medal goes to Mauritian Marie Ranaivosova, i.e., 76kg+94kg. The bronze medal was bagged by Sri Lanka’s Dinusha Gomes, i.e., 70kg+85kg.

Celebrities’ congratulations poured in for Mirabai Chanu

Many celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan to Mary Kom congratulated this golden girl who won India’s first gold medal. Suresh Raina also tweeted and congratulated Mirabai Chanu for her win. Vieren Rasquinha, Hardeep Singh Puri, Maj Surendra Poonia, Geeta Phogat also took social media to congratulate her on her impressive win.
