Despite its large contribution to the GDP, IT industry is one of the lowest paying companies in the world.

The latest study by a recruitment website points out that a mid-career IT employee earns four times less than the ones in Switzerland.

The annual survey placed India 7th on the list of lowest paying employers. Bulgaria topped the list with $25,680 average salary

while India on the same post gets $41,213. Countries such as Vietnam and Thailand, known for their new economic prosperity in Asia

also made it to the list. China ranks behind India with $42,689 followed by Czech Republic and Argentina.

The experts pointed out that the global salary patterns has a lot to do with standard of living, outsourcing and North American markets.

The IT companies are hunting down new regions where the labour costs are lower in order to bring down operating costs.

IT employees in the developed economies are drawing more salaries because the job post over there are demanding and complex.

Switzerland offers the highest salaries to the IT employees with an average salary of $1, 71,465 followed by $1, 52,430 in Belgium.

The US and UK are also among highest paying employers. India remains most preferred destination for IT companies due to cost factor but cheaper

options are now available in the market. This survey warns Indian companies to be more competitive and quality oriented now as this is going to drive

their future growth.
