“Go to Pakistan and play”: Goons threaten muslim family over playing cricket

Police in Gurugram’s Bhondsi district registered a complaint against group of men for thrashing members from a muslim family and reports are rife that even women and children were not spared in the attack.
Gurugram Police PRO Subhash Boken said they had arrested a man, based on a video, involved in alleged assault and several more arrests were yet to be made.

The assault took place at Sajid Mohammad’s house who lived there with his wife and six children. Several relatives were too visiting them during the incident on Thursday. Sajid’s nephew recounts when the face-off started while they were playing cricket on a vacant plot when few bike-bound youths came and questioned them what they were doing and suggested them to “go to Pakistan and play cricket”. Few moments after this incident the men with sticks, swords and other weapons barged in Sajid’s house and started the assault.

Arrests have been made on basis of a video shot by one of the family members from higher floors of house, trying to escape the attack. Most of male family members were targeted and local mobs were involved, said initial reports.
