Former defence minister and top BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, no more

The former defence minister and top BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, no more, Four-time Goa chief-minister, who was fighting pancreatic cancer for over a year now, passed away aged 63 at his Goa residence.

The central government has announced a nationwide morning for Mr Parrikar, notable IIT-Bombay alumni. Top BJP leaders along with PM Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari condoled his sudden death and will be in Goa for his last rites.

Parrikar was the crucial force BJP formed the coalition government in the small but yet crucial state of Goa. He also served as a defence minister from November 2014 to March 2017 for the current NDA government.
Born December 13 1955, in a middle-class family in the city of Mapusa, he continued working as RSS pracharak even after graduating from prestigious IIT-Bombay as a metallurgical engineer.

With nation entering a crucial general election, BJP is faced for a tough task to carry campaigns and garner its vote-share on the home-turf of this late leader, following his demise.
