Citizens injured in a road accident will get INR 2.5 lakh for free treatment; the government will start a special program for it

The people who are injured in road accidents will soon get a facility of cashless treatment by the government. People can get up to INR 2.5 lakh by this facility. The main motive of the government is to provide immediate treatment to the injured so that there is no or very little life loss.

Ministry of Road and Highway has sent a letter to the heads of various regional offices telling about the special program for the cashless treatment and the funds which are kept separately for the same.

General Insurance Company will help

There will be a contribution of the general insurance company in collaboration with the Road Transport Ministry for Motor Vehicle Relief Fund. All the expenses will be born by GIC for the insured vehicle and people injured in a hit and run case. The Road Ministry will bear the expenses of the vehicle which are damaged because of the accident. National Health Authority (NHA) will also help the Road Transport Ministry for the same. NHA has implemented Ayushman Bharat’s “PM Jan Arogya Yojana”. The claim will be settled by NHA after the treatment in the hospital.

Every year around 5 lakh people lose their lives in road accidents

Around 5 lakh road accident takes place every year In India. In 5 lakh road accidents, 1.5 lakh people die and rest 3 lakh people are now disabled every year. This is more than any other country in the world. The government has taken this step due to the growing statistics of deaths and disabled due to the accidents.

Vehicle Insurance is mandatory

The funds to the injured people will be provided via account transfer for the health care services. However, it is stated that if the vehicle is not insured then the expenses of vehicle repairing will be taken care of by the owner only.
