Delhi NCR felt the tremors on Friday afternoon. The tremors were felt around 7 in the evening. The intensity was measured as 4.7 on the Richter Scale. According to the reports, the centre of these tremors was near Gurugram. Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh also felt the tremors.
There were no immediate reports of loss of life or property.
Nearly a dozen low-intensity earthquakes have jolted the Delhi-NCR region in the last three months. Since April, 14 earthquakes have been recorded in and around Delhi. Of the 14, one was above magnitude 4.
The historical earthquake catalogue shows there were strong earthquakes in Delhi-NCR — of 6.5 magnitudes in Delhi in 1720; 6.8 at Mathura in 1803; 5.5 near Mathura in 1842; 6.7 near Bulandshahar in 1956; 6 near Faridabad in 1960 and 5.8 near Moradabad in 1966.
Delhi-NCR has been identified as the second highest seismic hazard zone (Zone IV).
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has requested the state governments to take steps that included ensuring compliance of building bye-laws to make upcoming constructions earthquake resilient and avoid the addition of vulnerable building stock.

The earthquake was stuck to Champai near Mizoram
Mizoram was hit by an earthquake in the afternoon at around 2:35. As per National Centre for Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake was 4.7 on the Richter Scale. The centre of the earthquake was near Champai. Before this, on June 24 an earthquake of 4.1 intensity was felt 31 km far from Champai. The strong tremors were felt on June 22 and June 23. The intensity of the quake on June 22 was 5.3 due to which many houses were damaged.
