2 trucks collides in UP; 24 dead, 15 referred

Initially, around 21 labourers were killed and several were injured after a truck carrying migrants collided into another truck in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh.

Updated reports stated that 24 migrants were brought dead, 22 have been admitted and 15 who were critically injured have been referred to Saifai PGI. All the migrants were from Rajasthan and they were going to their native states like Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

 

In the meantime, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed Commissioner and Inspector General of Kanpur to visit the site and give the report of cause.

 

Mayawati, BSP Chief have asked the UP government to take action against officers responsible for the Auraiya Mishap and she also asked the government to compensate the families of labours who were killed or injured in this accident.

 

Opposition party played their role well by blaming the government for not able to provide buses to migrant workers. Priyanka Gandhi tweeted,”

The heart breaking incident has once again raised the question that after all what is the government thinking to not provide proper arrangements for the workers to go home? Why are buses not being run to take labourers inside the states? Either the government does not see anything or..”

“Is the government’s job only to deliver statements? They remain oblivious even after seeing everything”, she added in another tweet.

 

UP government took strict actions by suspending the Station House Officer of Fatehpur Sikri and Kosi Kalan with immediate effect. UP government has announced financial assistance. Rs. 2 lakhs will be provided to the families of deceased and Rs. 50,000 will be provided to the families of the injured.

 

PM Modi along with CM Yogi and CM Kejriwal has expressed the deepest condolences to the families of labourers who lost their lives in this accident. Not only them but also many other leaders have expressed their deepest condolences for the families of the deceased. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Niraj Bhatia, Jaiveer Shergill, CM Gehlot, Raghav Chadha and many other politicians and journalists have also expressed condolences.
