Covid-19 vaccination drive started across the country from Saturday. Around two lakh people were vaccinated on the first day of vaccination. The Union Health Ministry said that due to Sunday the vaccination drive was held only in six states and total 17,072 people given vaccines. At the same time, from the last 10 days, less than 20,000 new cases are recorded and from more than a month the recovery rate is more compare to new cases every day. As a result, there has been a steady decline in active cases and currently, it has reached close to two lakh, which is less than two per cent of the total cases.
The Union Health Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that for the first time, the number of active cases in the country has come down to less than two per cent (1.98 per cent) of the total infected. There are currently 2,08,826 active cases. Less than 20 thousand new cases are being recorded daily for the last ten days. The difference between active cases and recovered patients is 99.88 lakh. According to the ministry, for the last 23 days, the death toll in the country has also remained below 300 hundred. From a few days, the daily death rate has come down to more than two hundred.
According to the data released by the ministry at 8 am, 15,144 new cases have been received in the last 24 hours, 17,170 patients have been cured and 181 people have also died. With this, the number of total infected has exceeded one crore five lakh 57 thousand. Out of these, over one crore one lakh 96 thousand patients have been cured and 1,52,274 people have lost their lives. The recovery rate of patients has increased to 96.58 per cent and the death rate remains at 1.44 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 18.65 crore samples have been tested across the country so far to detect coronavirus infection. Out of this, 7.79 lakh samples were tested on Saturday.
No new case of new Coronavirus strain found
The ministry said that there has been no new case of the new coronavirus infection found in the last 24 hours in the country. As of Saturday, the number of people infected with the virus was 116. All these people are kept in isolation in separate rooms in the special corona care centres built in their states. And the patient’s close relatives and family members have also been quarantined.
