Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He became the Prime Minister of India three times. He became the Prime Minister for the first time in 1996 and for the second time in 1998-99. On October 13, 1999, he became Prime Minister for the third time. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first leader to address the United Nations in Hindi. He loved Hindi very much. On March 27, 2015, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna. He passed away on 16 August 2018. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was known as a lively politician, a gentle-minded poet, a service-minded man, a gentle Hindutva supporter. Despite leaning towards pro-Hindu stance, Vajpayee always took the side of secularism. That is why he was called ‘Right Man in Wrong Party’.
