A Pakistani doctor who suspected coronavirus died on Sunday after testing positive for the virus, highlighting the danger to physicians who have threatened to strike unless access to protection equipment improves.
The top health official in the country’s northern Gilgit province, Shah Zaman, said” Dr. Osama Riaz, who was screening pilgrims who had returned to Pakistan from Iran, tested positive on Friday, he had subsequently died.
Pakistan, which borders Iran and China, two of the most affected countries, has reported three deaths and 658 infected patients, the highest number in South Asia. With a broken healthcare system and the world’s sixth-largest population of 208 million people, Pakistan remains in danger of a large scale spread of the virus, experts have warned.

Dr Asfandyar Khan, president of staff at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad, told a news conference on Friday “We request the government to immediately provide us personal protection equipment,”.
“It is like suicide to treat patients without protection,” “If the infection spreads in hospitals, believe me, no person will be ready to touch any patient.” He threatened doctors would stop work if they and other healthcare staff aren’t given the necessary equipment by Monday.
Pakistan’s health minister Zafar Mirza held a meeting with doctors’ representatives on Saturday. “Health workforce is my first priority,” he said on Twitter. The chief of Pakistan’s national disaster management department Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal said on Friday that “12,500 pieces of personal equipment had been procured. Ventilator shortage is another issue. “We have 1,700 ventilators in public hospitals and another 600 in the private sector,” said Afzal, adding an order had been made to procure 800 more. He said an order for 200,000 N95 masks and 100,000 kits to test the virus had also been placed to enhance the country’s capacity to cater to 900,000 people.

The number of confirmed cases has crossed 1 lakh in India with the state of Maharashtra on top with 35058+ patients. 33,000+ patients have increased in the country in past 7 days.
4,627 patients have increased on Monday only in the country. More than 39,000 patients have recovered from this disease. According to Central Health Ministry told that the percentage of recovered have increased to 38.29%. the number of patients per 1 lakh is 7.1 whereas the centre have told to work with 50% junior staff. Only 33% employees are working.
According to reports, the number of patients in Maharashtra were 2005, Tamil Nadu – 536, Gujarat -366, Rajasthan -305, Delhi-299, Madhya Pradesh -259, Uttar Pradesh – 141, west Bengal -148, Bihar -103, Jammu Kashmir – 106, Karnataka – 99, Andhra Pradesh – 52 and Odisha – 48. out of 96,000+ patients, 56,000+ patients are under treatment. 36,000+ have recovered and 3029 have died.
The situation of top 5 states and 1 Union Territories in no particular order:
1) Maharashtra : Total number of cases are 35,058. On Monday only, 2005 patients increased and 51 died. The option of sealed zone along with containment zone is included. According to sealed zone, if a person is found positive, the building/society will be sealed instead of the whole colony.
2) Madhya Pradesh : Total number of cases are 5,236. As of Monday 259 patients have increased. In lockdown 4.0, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Khandva, Devas and Burhanpur are kept under the category of red zo s. the remaining zones will be under green zone and the economic activities will be resumed.
3) Uttar a Pradesh: Total number of cases are 4,605. On Monday, 9,114 samples were tested. Only 141 were found positive. 2,783 patients have recovered in the state. 118 have died due to this virus.
4) Rajasthan : Total number of cases are 5,507. On Monday, 305 new cases have been reported in different location like in Dungarpur – 64, Jaipur – 47, Jodhpur – 35, Udaipur – 21, Bhilwara-25, Barmer – 11, Jalore – 25 and Rajasmand – 10. 138 deaths have been reported in the state.
5) Bihar : Total number of cases is 1423. On Monday, 103 positives were found. out 103, 31 were from Gopalganj, 15 were from Begusarai, 7 from Munger, 5 from Nalanda, 3 from Saharasa and 1-1 from Khagdiya, Nevada Supol, Pornia respectively. The rules of Lockdown 3.0 are followed by the state. Rules from 4.0 will be out soon in a day or so.
6) Delhi: Total number of cases is 10,054. As of Monday, 299 cases were reported positive, 283 have been recovered while 12 have died. 5,409 patients are undergoing treatment whereas 4485 patients have recovered. Department of Animal Husbandry has been sealed as one of the officers is found infectious.

Lockdown 3.0 extended till 31 May becoming the world’s longest lockdown
The world’s longest lockdown of India has been extended for 14 more days till 31 May. This will be the fourth phase of lockdown. It will start from 18 May, Monday to 31 May. Around 6 hours before the completion of the third phrase, NDMA gave orders to the central government to continue the lockdown. Along with the fourth phase of lockdown, around 1.25 crore people will be in their houses for 68 days.
Many new guidelines have been published for the fourth lockdown.
Every type of shop and market will be open to expect in the containment zone and the mall will remain close. All the shops can be open at a particular time. At a time only five people can be there in a shop with a distance of 2 yards each. The state government can take decisions for the movement of the buses in the states. Interstate buses can start by the mutual agreement of the states. Sports complexes and stadiums can now be open but the spectators will not get permission. Restaurants can now be open only for home deliveries, i.e., customers cannot have a seat in a retro restaurant to eat. Only the hotels where health, police, government officials, health workers and tourist due to lockdown are stuck will be open. Canteens on bus stops, eatery shops on railway stations and airports will be open.
Domestic and international flights, metro, cinema halls, shopping malls, gym, swimming pool, entertainment park, theatre, auditorium, assembly halls, schools, college, education, training, coaching institutes, hotels, bars will remain closed; political, religious, cultural and social programs are not allowed in this lockdown.
The curfew at night will continue i.e., from 7 pm to 7 am people cannot go out. Only necessary services will not come under this category. The elderlies above 65 and children below 10 along with pregnant women will remain in their houses. Aarogya Setu app should be installed in the mobile phones of the employees despite the fact, the word “compulsory” was not used. People have to update their health status so that the people vulnerable to this infection get alert immediately. All states and union territory government have to ensure the hurdle free movement of medical professionals like doctors, nurse, paramedical staff, cleaning staff and ambulance. Also, the movement of trucks and other vehicles that include empty trucks should be ensured.
Till now the lockdown was settled in three phases; from 25 March to 14 April, 15 April to 3 May and 4 May to 17 May. the first phase was of 21 days in which only the shops of necessary items were allowed to open. the next phase continued for 19 days and the shops in the orange and green zone were allowed to open. the third phase continued for 12 days in which the shops were opened in the orange and green zone. the buses and trains for migrant labours also-ran. along with these special trains from New Delhi started. also Vande Bharat and Samudra setu mission was launched to rescue the Indians from other countries

COVID-19: Rajasthan Government spent ₹2,440 on quarantine center patients
In Rajasthan, The disaster management department to district administration passed an order that the state government will spend ₹2,440 on each person in the state-run COVID-19 quarantine centers.
From March 23rd till Wednesday there were 23,437 people in government quarantine centers across the state. While the pink city Jaipur has 54 centers out of which 14 centers are running with 1,643 number of Patients. Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 patients reported in the Rajasthan with 1,935 whereas Jaipur alone registered with 737 Coronavirus cases.
Under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the state executive committee (SEC) headed by the state’s chief secretary but on March 15, the state government delegated the powers to the additional chief secretary (ACS), medical and health department in this committee. Under these powers, the ACS appointed as the nodal authority for demonstrating the number of quarantine centers and the duration of Patients stay in them.
This order was issued earlier but became public on Thursday. The maximum expense per person per day would be 2,440.
According to the order, the amount 2,440 is divided into several expenses i.e Rs 600 is to be spent on food and drinks which includes Rs 100 on breakfast, Rs 180 each on lunch and dinner, Rs 80 for water and Rs 60 on tea and snacks. Whereas the linen and laundry are of Rs 60.
Rohit Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary, medical and health department, said some part of the amount is for the quarantine centers themselves while the expenditure also includes food for staff deputed at the quarantine centers of Rs 500 and Rs 600 for personal protective equipment (PPE) kit for health care workers.
The expense on security guards, PPE for health workers, and food for staff workers could not be counted as expenses. Rs 2,440 was the upper limit money spend on quarantine center patients.

–Hospitals and other related medical institutions, production and allocation units, private and government sector dispensaries, chemists, labs, clinics, nursing homes, and ambulances, etc. will continue to function. Health workers, nurses, paramedical staff and other employees will be allowed to be transported.
–People will be allowed to visit the doctor and come home from the hospital.
–Essential services like pay troll, CNG, LPG, PNG will remain open.
–Power generation, electricity distribution will also continue uninterrupted.
–Employees working in the power department will also be allowed to go to work.
–Private security services will also continue.
–Banks, Insurance Offices and ATMs will remain open.
–Print and electronic media will be functional.
–Delivery of all essential commodities like food, medicines, medical devices through e-commerce will continue.
–Petrol pumps, LPG, Petroleum, and Gas in outlets will be available.
–Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Unit will continue.
What will remain closed?
–The central government, it’s autonomous/subordinate offices and government companies will remain closed. Exceptions– Defense, CRPF, Treasury, Petroleum, CNG, LPG, PNG, Disaster Management, Power Generation and Transmission Unit, Post Office, NIC Offices.
–Offices of States / Union Territories, their autonomous institutions, companies will remain closed. Exceptions: Police, Home Guards, Civil Defense, Fire and Emergency Services, Disaster Management and Jails.
–District administration and treasury.Exception: Municipal bodies – Staff for essential services like sanitation and water supply.
–Government and private offices will remain closed.
–Rail, air and roadways services will not be available.
–All modes of public transport-air, rail, road will be closed.
–Public places such as malls, halls, gyms, spas, sports clubs will remain closed.
–All restaurants, shops will remain closed. Gym, hotels, motels, religious places, all educational institutions will also be closed.
–No more than 20 people will be allowed in the funeral.
–All factories, workshops, warehouses, weekly markets will remain closed.
In his address to the nation, Modi said that this step has been taken to implement social distancing (social distance) in a very strict manner, the most important weapon against this dangerous virus. The PM also told how coronavirus cases have increased rapidly in the world. The Prime Minister said, “Forget going out of the house for the next 21 days. If you cross Laxman Rekha then you will invite viruses in your homes. The 21-day prisoner is looking long but this is the way to keep everyone safe. If you do not accept 21 days, then our country, your family will go back 21 years. Thus stay home, stay safe.
