Censor Board, Homophobic much?

Central Board of Film Certification muted the word ‘lesbian’ from the upcoming movie Dum LagakeHaisha

All classes have a monitor and Indian film industry also has CBFC as its monitor. This monitor is making many headlines nowadays after the new Modi government is in power, the CBFC have also amended many rules which we can safely assume are reflecting the ideology of the ruling conservative Bharatiya Janta Party government.

In times when people are fighting for homosexual rights in the country and protesting against Article 377, the censor board has once again showed its regressive approach and proved that may be the members of the board are living in another century.

A picture of the censor board certificate of Yash Raj Films’ Dum LagaKeHaisha is doing the rounds on internet. According to the picture, the board had muted the word ‘lesbian’ from the film.

The certificate is signed by board’s head Pahlaj Nihlani.

We would like to conclude all this by, “Are these Acche Din?” How does politicizing the censor board lead to Development? It’s high time the BJP understands the reason behind the mandate.
