The match started with Mumbai Indians winning the toss. Kieron Pollard announced that Mumbai Indians will be balling first. It meant the RCB had to score a fighting total in order to progress to the top of the points table. The opening partnership gave a steady start to RCB. Josh Philippe and Devdutt Padikkal managed to score 71 runs in the opening partnership.

The first wicket was taken by Rahul Chahar in the 8th over. Virat Kohli’s wicket was taken by Jasprit Bumrah in the 12th over. Then, AB de Villiers came to bat with Devdutt Padikkal. However, he wasn’t able to score good and had to move to the pavilion in the 16th over with a score of 15 runs only. Shivam Dube came to bat but had to go back in the 17th over. Devdutt Padikkal was playing a great inning but he also got caught out by Trent Boult in the 17th over only with a score of 74 runs. Although, RCB managed to score a fighting total of 164 runs in 20 over at a loss of 6 wickets.

Then, Mumbai Indians came to bat after RCB. However, the first wicket was down in the 6th over only. Quinton de Kock scored only 18 runs. Then, came Suryakumar Yadav to bat along with Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar Yadav was playing really well and everyone knew that if he stayed till the end, Mumbai Indians will surely win. The wickets kept on falling but Suryakumar Yadav managed to remain on strike.

The second wicket was taken by Yuzvendra Chahal in the form of Ishan Kishan in 8th over, the third wicket was down in the 11th over in form of Saurabh Tiwary who scored only 5 runs, the fourth wicket was down in the form of Krunal Pandya who scored only 10 runs, and the fifth wicket was taken by Mohammed Siraj in the 18th over. Pandya was able to score only 17 runs.

But, on the other side, Suryakumar Yadav was hitting boundaries with great pace. Suryakumar Yadav played an incredible inning of 79 runs in just 43 balls. Mumbai Indians won by 5 wickets with 5 balls remaining. Suryakumar Yadav’s spectacular inning helped Mumbai Indians to remain at the top of the points table.
