There will be a third stage human trial of the corona vaccine at five locations in the country. Renu Swarup, secretary of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), gave this information. There will be trials of Oxford University, Zydus Cadila Company, and Bharat Biotech vaccine in the country. If the trial is successful, the Corona vaccine will be introduced in India more quickly.
The third stage is very important. This will allow people to get data on the effect of this vaccine. It is very important that the country has this data before giving vaccines to people. Preparation can begin after the trial is completed and before final approval is given. In such a situation, India will be able to get the vaccine as per the requirement as soon as production starts.
DBT involved in efforts to prepare a vaccine
DBT has been involved in efforts to develop vaccines in India. It is working closely with all the vaccine companies and institutions in the country. DBT will provide financial assistance and approval for this, as well as help to reach it to the distribution network. The government has also prepared 6 other places so that human trials can be conducted at these places as and when required.
Pune’s CII was also selected to produce the vaccine
Oxford and its partners have also selected the Serum Institute of India (CII) in Pune to develop the vaccine. CII has also sought approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the second and third phases of the human trial. CII produces the most vaccines in the world.
Thousands of people will be tried
The first two-stage trials of the vaccine have been completed. The results were also published in Research Journal this month. Trials conducted by Oxford University had shown very good results. In the first phase, only a few people were given this vaccine. The second phase involved a hundred more people. Thousands of people will be vaccinated in the third phase. It is considered to be the last stage of preparation for any vaccine.
