Sputnik Light: Sputnik’s single dose Covid-19 vaccine’s human trial in final stages

The third phase of human trials of the Covid-19 Vaccine Sputnik Light is underway by Russian Deputy Diplomat Roman Babushkin in India. Sputnik’s single dose vaccine against Covid-19 is Sputnik Light. Speaking to the news agency, he said, “Phase III human trials of Sputnik Light are underway. We are confident that the vaccine will be produced here because India is the world’s leading country in terms of drug production capacity in a short time.”

He also praised India’s vaccine manufacturing capacity. He also informed that the supply of the Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccine is going on as per the contract and schedule. The Deputy Envoy said, “We are receiving slightly more applications from other companies and state governments of India, and the proposals are being studied carefully.” On Monday, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Panacea Biotec began production of the Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccine production is expected to begin in India

Panacea Biotec is one of the Indian partners. The initial schedule is gradually to do 850 million doses every year in India. The Deputy Envoy said, “We know that other business partners and even state governments have shown interest. We are studying all the proposals very carefully.” Russia’s Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccine is one of three vaccines that India has approved for the vaccination campaign. Sputnik has also tied up with Dr. Reddy Laboratories to manufacture the vaccine in India. So far, two consignments of the Sputnik vaccine have arrived in India. The first consignment arrived on 1 May and the second consignment reached home on 16 May. On May 13, regulatory approval was given by the Central Drugs Laboratory-Kasauli.
